For heavier applications, the PowerBoost function increases the hydraulic pressure from 8% to 10%, without time limit, providing higher excavating power. Additionally, on situations where soil resistance is higher, the hydraulic system pressure tends to increase. The load sensing system reduces the hydraulic pressure because, in this case, the equipment needs more power and not speed, thus preserving the engine.

Hydraulic excavators are equipped with a regenerative system on the excavating cylinder, which consists on deviating part of the oil leaving the rod to the cylinder base. The entire system has been designed for avoiding cavitation inside the cylinder, which would be the lack of oil on the base side due to the fast arm closing movement.
